Investment Philosophy
American Capital Partners, LLC. provides independent research. We are generalists that are opportunistic and employ a long/short investment philosophy. On the long side, we utilize a bottom-up, fundamental research strategy to find undervalued and under-followed companies without regard for market capitalization or sector (even though there are certain sectors that we have traditionally stayed away from such as bio-tech, bio-pharma, etc.). Companies with low P/E’s, low Price/Cash Flow, low Price/Book Value, strong balance sheets, which generate cash and are profitable or will generate near term profit, are examples of characteristics that we look for before recommending a long position.
On the short side, we believe in positioning one’s portfolio in order to hedge against economic or market downturns. We look to recommend short positions in companies that exhibit the following characteristics: high P/E or cash flow multiples, deteriorating business model or franchise value, poor or weakening cash flow and earning and/or a change that undermines the business model.
